HIV/AIDS Services - For Youth and Adults

New Connections is proud to play a central role in the system of care for people living with HIV or AIDS in Contra Costa County. Our HIV/AIDS programs focus primarily on support for people who are the most vulnerable and underserved - especially those who also have co-occurring behavioral healthcare problems.

New Connections is the only provider of substance abuse recovery services for people living with HIV/AIDS in Contra Costa County. New Connections is also the largest provider of psychosocial case management services in Contra Costa County, and we are the only such provider located in all three regions of the county. We are the primary provider of these services for monolingual Spanish speakers, in coordination with Familias Unidas, a mental health services provider organization located at our counseling center in Concord.

Comprehensive support and advocacy for HIV/AIDS-diagnosed participants, as well as education and respite care for their family members and other caregivers is provided through the Tranquillium Center in Richmond. In collaboration with other AIDS service providers and community-based organizations, this unique day treatment center has served as a refuge and support facility for over 12 years.

We provide services which are both developmentally and culturally appropriate to each client. Our staff members are representative of the population we serve and include gay and straight people, people who are African-American, Latino, Asian, white and of mixed ethnicity, people in recovery, and people living with AIDS.

Our HIV/AIDS services are available free of charge to eligible clients, thanks to support from government contracts with Contra Costa County and the Cities of Antioch, Concord, Pittsburg and Walnut Creek, as well as from private donations and grants from foundation partners.
