TRANSITIONS, QUEST and BEGINNINGS

Adult Intensive Outpatient and Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program

New Connections provides intensive outpatient and outpatient treatment services for adults and their families at our Counseling and Recovery Centers in Concord and Pittsburg. Depending on the level of care needed for the client, the treatment program tracks are called Transitions, Quest or Beginnings. They are all conducted by therapists and counselors who specialize in chemical dependency problems.

Transitions, Quest and Beginnings include adapted versions of the Matrix model of addiction and recovery. The program is based on extensive clinical research, and has been employed at New Connections for several years. Over 1,000 youth and adults have successfully completed treatment at New Connections since 1990. This program is sponsored by Contra Costa County's Health Services and Community Services, the Cities of Concord, Pittsburg and Walnut Creek, and foundation grants and private donations.

Who May Attend:

Adults with alcohol or drug problems and their families may Transitions, Quest or Beginnings. Following a comprehensive clinical assessment, clients are placed in a program and provided with a treatment plan which best serves their needs.

Program Features:

  • From two to ten hours of activity each week, depending on the client's treatment plan.
  • Two to four months of substance abuse treatment.
  • Individual, group, and family sessions.
  • Multi-family, anger management and recovery support groups.
  • Classes on life skills, introduction to 12-step programs and alcohol and other drug education.
  • Random urinalysis testing.
  • Continuing care for up to one year.

How To Register:

Potential clients attend a weekly orientation session for the program. Those who are uninsured or who may require support from Contra Costa County Health Services should pre-register for the orientation by calling the Access Unit at 800.846.1652.
